How to Tune in and Discover your Inner Message...Field Notes Issue 6 with Rachel Dickson

8/13/25

Hello, kindred souls: wanderers at heart, seekers of what’s real, holders of hope, and keepers of the flame of truth!

Yesterday afternoon, driving home, I passed a field where a dozen or so female wild turkeys were foraging for snacks. I couldn’t help myself...I hollered out the window, “Hey girls!” (Hand held high...waving.)

The reaction was mixed. Some looked up, a few remarked back, and several darted into the bushes. But there was no question: my voice landed.

Our energy works a lot like that. Every word, glance, or thought we send out creates a ripple in the field around us. Some people (or turkeys) meet it with curiosity, some with conversation, others with retreat.

The Energy We Share

For those of you who know me…you know I’m a talker. What you may not know is that I also talk to trees, rivers, wildlife, rocks, plants, the wind, the moon, even the stars. Why?

Because words carry intent. Intent carries vibration. Vibration creates a space for interaction...an exchange. When I speak, I can feel how my words are received...accepted, resisted, or somewhere in between. It’s a kind of energetic sonar.

You do this too.
We all do. Even children.

Ever heard that talking to plants can influence their growth? Or about Dr. Masaru Emoto’s experiments showing how words can affect water crystals? These ideas point to what I’ve always known deep down...we can share subtle energy with another being.

For those who want a more scientific dive, researchers have explored quantum energy interactions between humans and the concept of the human biofield. The observer effect even suggests that simply watching something changes its reality.

The Power of Our Presence

Think about the last time you entered a room and instantly knew something was “off” before anyone spoke. That’s your own observer effect in action — your energy field meeting another and reading the room.

If that’s true, then we hold far more responsibility for the outcomes in our lives than we might realize.

What if we shifted from living in a space of “this is happening to me” into “I am the creator of my own story”? What if our compass was not the noise around us but our own inner knower — that gut-level truth that never lies?

Whenever we prepare to create — a meal, a song, a painting, a conversation — there’s a moment of tuning in. Sometimes that alignment comes in seconds; sometimes it takes weeks. The knowing is always there.

The real question is: how well are we listening?

Wild-Heart Practice of the Week:

This week, pick one moment a day to tune in. It could be with a tree, a song, a conversation, even the night sky.

Ask silently: “What is the message here for me?”

Notice what shifts...in you, and in the field around you.

Keep the Campfire Burning

If something here sparked a shift, a smile, or a quiet “yes” inside, this is an easy way to say,
“That touched me.”

No pressure—only gratitude and a heartfelt thank you for joining me here.

Field Notes is a weekly dispatch.
A pause in the noise.
A spark to warm your hands.
A place to gather ‘round and remember what matters… one breath, one heartbeat at a time.

If this note lit something in you, pass the flame along.
Someone out there might be waiting for this very glow.

Until next time, Namaste.
Rachel

10/23/25 Hey there, quiet alchemists, truth-tenders, and rememberers of what matters! quintessence This fascinating term dropped back into my orbit this week. I love being reminded of things I once deeply pondered and now carry within my being. And when I’m reminded of them...is like a spark or a bolt of lighting...a reverberating AHAH moment! This word comes from the Latin words quinta essentia. Quinta being “fifth” and Essentia being “essence”. But what is quintessence? “Ancient and...

10/17/25 Greetings, brave feelers and quiet seekers….travelers of both the outer world and the inner one. If you were to go to my blog and read the entry I wrote on September 8th, 2024 here is what you would find…. Change Working in the outdoors I've had the pleasure of being witness to change each and every day. How the light hits the river water in the morning, the sounds of insects and birds and the rippling water over rocks. It's easy to notice change when you're in awareness of your...

10/01/25 Greetings, fellow wanderers, wild-idea dreamers, meaning makers, and seekers of clarity, courage, and quiet joy! I see you. Because I am you… and you are me. “Wherever we insist on pushing our differences on others, we feel separation. We name this separation resistance, laziness, loneliness, depression, anxiety, or some kind of lack in ourselves. Then we claim these as ‘who we are’—I am resistant, I am lazy, I am lonely, I am anxious, I am stupid, I am unappreciated, I am unworthy,...
