10/01/25 Greetings, fellow wanderers, wild-idea dreamers, meaning makers, and seekers of clarity, courage, and quiet joy! I see you. Because I am you… and you are me. “Wherever we insist on pushing our differences on others, we feel separation. We name this separation resistance, laziness, loneliness, depression, anxiety, or some kind of lack in ourselves. Then we claim these as ‘who we are’—I am resistant, I am lazy, I am lonely, I am anxious, I am stupid, I am unappreciated, I am unworthy, I am alone, and so forth.
Meaning makers understand that everything and everyone is part of ‘the field,’ as Einstein said. We are always part of the ocean. The invitation is to become conscious of what we say ‘I am that’ to—because that is what expands our reality. When we align our ‘I am’s’ with something uplifting and meaningful, we widen the field of what’s possible. Our actions follow suit. We become more receptive, more open, more connected. We discover that we belong everywhere, rather than confining ourselves to one small group. Everyone and everything becomes part of the field to explore.
Thought transformation is the central tool of the meaning maker.
When we recognize that everything is sacred—that tat tvam asi (‘thou art that’)—we begin to behave as if we are walking among the holy on sacred ground. We make eye contact with our holiness and recognize it as such.”
(Excerpt from The Zero Point Agreement by Julie Tallard Johnson)
A few weeks ago, I made eye contact with the knowing that tender emotions would soon rise within us all as the one-year anniversary of Helene approached. I felt the importance of meeting this with gentleness and grace, and of surrounding myself with others who understand. I chose to walk among the holy, on sacred ground. For me, this practice began with attending the healing Rising Appalachia gathering in Black Mountain, NC last weekend. With dear friends, I felt the deep connection, collective love, and intentional grounding that reminded us we are not alone in navigating all that last year brought to WNC. The next step was creating a very intentional gathering of my own—one that would offer a space to meet these emotions with light, connection, and transformation. That gathering is the Transforming Your World: Full Harvest Moon Gathering on Sunday, October 5th at Elk Haven Wellness Center in Brevard. We’ll open with blessings offered to—and received from—the Full Harvest Moon guided by Cherokee Native, Patty Young, followed by a resonant sound bath led by Elise Burrows. We’ll then explore soul-nourishing messages revealed through the Colour Mirror bottles with Jaci Dayley, and close with a guided meditation for reflection and renewal. To support your journey beyond the gathering, each ticket also includes a downloadable Gratitude Journal. This two-hour event is about transforming sorrow and grief into joy, resilience, and hope. 📍 Elk Haven Wellness Center, Brevard, NC Seating is intentionally limited to 20 to keep our gathering intimate, and I anticipate it will fill quickly. Because now, more than ever—we need togetherness. And I’ll take this moment to say: thank you for being on this journey with me! May we continue to inspire one another to be our best selves. Wild-Heart Practice of the Week:Inner Harvest Reflection Set aside a quiet moment this week to reflect on what you’ve cultivated within yourself over the past year—your growth, lessons, joys, and sorrows. Write them down or speak them aloud as if offering them to the “holy ground” inside you. Let this practice transform tenderness or grief into gratitude and clarity—a personal harvest of what your heart has grown, nurtured, and carried. Pause, honor it, and notice how your inner landscape feels more full, rich, and alive.

12/03/25 Hello, wild-hearted, truth-tellers, hope-dealers and beautiful souls! When I was a kid...my parents told me I was a “strong-willed child.” (Thank you James Dobson). This wasn’t any kind of badge of honor. Trust me. This was a way to label someone who was different...someone who pushed against the expected...someone who asked a lot of questions for better understanding...someone who didn’t just accept the status-quo as gospel. Many things that I was told just didn’t resonate with...
11/27/25 Greetings Creators, Collaborators, Hope-Dealers, Bridge-Builders and Bringers of Light! If you’re new here — welcome. Field Notes is a weekly dispatch of reflection and soul care sent every week. It’s Thanksgiving Day here in America. And this is the first year in many years that I did not make a made-from-scratch pumpkin pie. I distinctly remember when I was living in Tennessee ….when I decided from that day forward I would always make a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. This was due to...
11/21/25 Hello, quiet souls finding meaning in ordinary moments. A Note on Gratitude (and a Slow Driver) I didn’t feel inspired when I sat down to write this. No big revelation. No thunderbolt of insight.Just a small memory from my moment on the road. There was a driver in front of me going slower than I wanted. You know that feeling — the tightening, the impatience, the silent wishing they would just move along. And then something unexpected happened. I thought:What if? What if that driver...
